On this evening we will celebrate not only our award winning members and firms\, but will kick off a celebration in advance of our Los Angeles 2017 Annual Meeting planning. \nAdditional Venue Information:\nThe design awards will be held in the Sequoia South Ballroom and Foyer. Danos\, FASLA\, serves as director of Landscape Architecture for the multi-disciplinary firm\, Duplantis Design Group\, PC\, located in Baton Rouge\, for its four Louisiana offices as well as a Houston and Atlanta office. Danos can identify with alternative practice types as he has previously worked in city government\, a mid-size landscape architectural firm\, launched a micro-landscape architecture practice that eventually evolved into a partnership practice\, and has taught as an adjunct instructor. Danos is CLARB Certified with licenses in Texas\, Louisiana\, Mississippi\, Alabama\, and Florida. \nDanos became involved with ASLA early in his career at Louisiana State University\, in large part because of the profound influence of Dr. Robert “Doc” S. Reich\, FASLA. After serving as student chapter president and on the steering committee for LABASH ’89 at LSU\, he then served as Louisiana Chapter president in 1996-97. Since that time\, Danos has been a stable advisor to subsequent Louisiana Chapter presidents serving as a conduit for knowledge transfer to the Chapter’s future generation of leaders. In 2003\, Danos was a key member of the Host Committee for the ASLA Annual Meeting and EXPO in New Orleans. \nFor the past 10 years\, Danos has served ASLA in numerous capacities: Vice President of Government Affairs (2012 – 2013)\, Trustee (2003 – 2011)\, Finance and Investments Committee (2013 – 2014)\, chair of Government Affairs Advisory Committee (2006 – 2011)\, Licensure Committee (2010 – 2012)\, Nomination Committee (2006 – 2007)\, Disaster Response Task Force (2005 – 2008)\, and Leadership Development Committee (2003 – 2004). Danos’ service to the profession was recognized by induction into the 2011 Class of ASLA Fellows. \nAs an advocate for the advancement of landscape architecture\, he has served on local committees to strengthen landscape and stormwater codes and is currently the landscape architect representative on Louisiana’s licensing board. In this role\, Danos continues to educate and defend our right to practice. As ASLA Vice President of Government Affairs\, he was a speaker at state conferences on advocating for the profession at federal\, state\, and local levels.
