About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate, hardworking and experienced Mid-Level to Senior Landscape Architect to join our Los Angeles studio. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, dynamic team where your voice will matter, and your work will directly contribute to the growth of the practice. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and a desire to take on leadership roles within the firm as it continues to expand. This position will be both remote and in person.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design efforts for a range of projects, including public open spaces, mixed-use developments, streetscapes, and urban plazas
- Develop compelling presentation graphics, diagrams, and visualizations for client meetings and public presentations
- Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and materials lists for complex projects, including on-structure and on-grade conditions
- Manage project coordination and client communications from concept through construction
- Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a collaborative studio environment
- Conduct site analysis, grading studies, and planting plans with an understanding of Southern California’s unique climate and ecological conditions
- Participate in design critiques and project reviews, contributing to innovative design solutions
- Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, and other consultants to integrate landscape architecture seamlessly with building and infrastructure projects
- Actively contribute to business development, including proposal writing, client outreach, and project pitches
Required Qualifications:
- Professional undergraduate or graduate degree in landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, or a related field from an accredited program
- 6-8 years of professional experience in landscape architecture, with demonstrated project management and leadership capabilities
- Strong design and technical skills, including conceptual and schematic design, grading, and construction detailing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Bluebeam and 3D modeling software (SketchUp, Rhino)
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Earth Pro, and Bluebeam Revu
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively
- Licensure as a landscape architect in California (preferred, but not required if near-term licensure is planned)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced studio environment
Preferred Skills:
- Hand sketching and freehand drawing skills
- Experience with visualization tools like Lumion, Twinmotion or D5
- Knowledge of advanced parametric tools like Grasshopper
- GIS and spatial analysis skills (ArcMap, ArcGIS)
Compensation:
Based on recent salary trends in Southern California, LANDmarc will offer a competitive salary based on 6-8 years of experience, licensure, and technical skillset.
