Synthetic turf has seen a major shift in the last 20 years and its applications are more widespread than ever. With an increasing and ever volatile media, political and governmental landscape surrounding the synthetic turf industry, it’s important to have up-to-date facts in order to make decisions on the materials for their application. This course helps attendees understand key components of outdoor synthetic turf applications in regards to surface heat, chemical exposure, participant safety, athlete performance, aesthetics, water conservation, upfront cost and maintenance costs.
Learning Objectives:
• Understand the applications in which artificial turf is appropriate and the corresponding differences between natural grass for each application
• Understand key components of outdoor synthetic turf applications in regards to surface heat, chemical exposure, participant safety, athlete performance, aesthetics, water conservation, front cost and maintenance costs
• Discuss the governmental, regulatory, media and political landscape surrounding artificial field construction
• Evaluate the future landscape of artificial field construction
