Addressing Air Quality Impacts in Schoolyards

Loading Events

Part of a series, speakers in this session will discuss schoolyard air quality, including air pollution concerns and risks and design features that can improve schoolyard air quality, as well as those that may have an adverse impact. They will focus on considerations and recommendations for planting trees and vegetation at schools to reduce air pollution and protect vulnerable students, while creating vibrant, shaded, living green schoolyards.

Speakers will include Richard Baldauf, PhD, Senior Research Engineer at US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Brent Bucknum, Founder, Hyphae Design Laboratory (Oakland, CA). The session will be recorded and posted to the Green Schooyards website.

We invite school district facilities staff, schoolyard designers, landscape architects, architects, public agency staff, and others who are involved in creating green schoolyards and schoolyard forests or want to learn more to join us for this interdisciplinary series. However, all are welcome!
