Happy Birthday to CEO/Founder Don Brinkerhoff, FASLA, 90 Years Young Today!
By 16, Don was already working in the landscape industry. Then, he attended Cal Poly Pomona, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture.
After 5 years working for others, he received his Landscape Architecture license in 1957, establishing his own firm with his wife Barbara in 1958. He took a 2-1/2 year study/work “around the world” sabbatical (with his family) from 1965-1968, returning enriched by cultural, artistic and aesthetic global experiences that he’s incorporated into many projects since.
Don spent his career serving his community (pro bono projects), serving his profession (leadership, teaching, lecturing, and ongoing endowments) and guiding his award-winning landscape architecture firm, designing such iconic projects as The Mirage, Bellagio, The Grove, Wynn/Encore Las Vegas, Majestic Mansions (China), Diamond Cliff Resort (Thailand)and Fontainebleau Miami Beach to name just a few.
