Congratulations to AHBE Landscape Architecture – the winner of the So Cal ASLA Chapter PARK(ing) Day contest for their installation in DTLA.
The concept for their Parklet according to the project team was “to create an immersive landscape experience in Downtown Los Angeles that looked at what kind of benefits 200 sq. ft. of wild plant material could provide for pollinators, water quality, air quality and the reduction of heat island effect.”
Visitors to the Parklet learned about the benefits of native plants were given packets of native seeds by Stover Seeds to plant in their own gardens. The plants used in the installation were donated by Village Nurseries and El Nativo Growers and were then passed on to the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust to be used in their Gardens and Youth Programs.
AHBE Landscape Architects Park(ing) Day installation will be showcased at the Chapter Welcome Booth at the ASLA Annual Meeting and Expo in Los Angeles October 20-23.
We would like to thank all of our participants and look forward to seeing everyone at the 2017 Los Angeles Annual Meeting!
