Landscape Architects may know Angelus Block Co., Inc. for its line of concrete masonry units, Proto II Wall System and Angelus Wall System, but did you know Angelus has been manufacturing interlocking concrete paving stones in Southern California for more than 35 years?
It began under the banner of Perma Concrete producing on one machine in Moreno Valley, a small range of paver shapes and limited color selections. Today, under the banner of Angelus Paving Stones, they produce on three state-of-the-art machines in two locations: Rialto and Oxnard. And they now offer more than 40 different shapes, a broad range of stock colors, a variety of textures and the ability to manufacturer a rainbow of special-order colors. The collections of shapes include interlocking concrete paving stones, permeable interlocking concrete paving stones, concrete grid paving units, concrete paving slabs and concrete plank units.
Angelus’ collection of interlocking concrete paving stones (ICP) gives the designer the largest palette of shapes, colors, textures and patterns to be creative with pavements on a project. Their ICP include products for use in pedestrian, light vehicular and heavy commercial applications. In addition to post-production textures the paving stones embossed top and chamfer edge can add additional character.
As one of the first to offer permeable interlocking concrete paving stones (PICP) more than 20 years ago, Angelus now produces five different styles of PICP that are ideal for use in low speed collector roads, parking lots and pedestrian applications. From a simple 8”x8” unit, Angelus’s offerings in PICP now include a linear package, a four stone random package with clean lines, a four stone random slate look and the versatile and durable 4”x8”. These products offer designers the ability to manage rainwater on site with an aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound pavement.
Another ‘green’ offering by Angelus is the Turfstone product. These concrete grid paving units reinforce turf areas for use in temporary overflow parking or fire lane applications. Offered in a standard gray with a high solar reflectance these units will stay cool until the turf fills in and hides the units underneath. These units are often used to meet green space and fire lane requirements on small sites.
Think large with Angelus’ concrete paving slabs and planks. These larger scale units are for pedestrian applications only and offer smaller chamfered edges. Paving slabs are designed to mimic natural stone with subtle color blends and smooth or clefted surfaces. Angelus Plank units come with a textured surface and color blends simulating weathered wood.
From a cobble top with a rounded corner, to the clean lines of a micro chamfer, to the look of cut natural stone, Angelus Paving Stones has many offerings for the Landscape Architect.
