On Sunday, August 21, fifteen Southern California Chapter Emerging Professionals kayaked down the LA River. Led by two tour guides from LA River Expeditions, attendees got a visceral understanding of the LA River and why it is one of the biggest landscape opportunities in Southern California. The 2.5 mile, two-hour kayak trip down the “Sepulveda Basin” section of the LA River is a wonderfully green, leisurely, flatwater paddle, with deeper water and few obstacles and surrounded by neighborhoods such as Encino, Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, Reseda and Canoga Park.
