The UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Certificate Program is  delighted to announce that Pamela Brief, ASLA, PLA, has been appointed Academic Administrator for the Landscape Architecture Certificate Program. In this role, Pamela will oversee academic programs and will be instrumental in the evaluation, strategic planning, and continued growth of the program.  She will work closely with me while engaging students, faculty, industry partners, and the Guidance Committee to ensure the program’s ongoing academic excellence and relevance to the profession. Pamela will retain her role as an instructor in the program as well.

Pamela Brief is a landscape architect who teaches landscape design in the UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Department and currently serves on the program’s Guidance Committee. She is also President and Founder of Pamela Studios Inc., where she focuses on projects throughout Southern California. Her professional experience includes award-winning domestic and international projects with POD, Emmet Wemple & Associates, The Jerde Partnership, NUVIS, and Walt Disney Imagineering. Pamela’s work is rooted in design approaches that engage and educate users while preserving and improving the health of local environments and communities. An accomplished designer, manager, and collaborator, she is deeply committed to mentoring students and emerging professionals.

Pamela has been an active leader within the profession, serving on the Executive Committee of ASLA Southern California from 2016 to 2024 and being elected Chapter President twice. She is a dedicated advocate for landscape architecture and public service, volunteering extensively and contributing to pro bono initiatives. In 2020, Pamela was appointed by Governor Newsom to the Landscape Architects Technical Committee (LATC) and currently serves as Chair.
