Anova is excited to share that we will be bringing back our annual emerging professionals grant competition in 2018. This year, we will be asking emerging professionals to respond to “Describe a space that influenced your career in landscape architecture, which can help others relate to the profession.” We ask that candidates submit a short essay and a quick napkin sketch for the opportunity to win a $2,000 grant to fund their attendance at the ASLA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia.

Our panel of three practicing Landscape Architects will select the 21 best responses. Judging will be based on written essay (30%), napkin sketch (30%), and overall presentation of all entry materials (40%). Learn more about the judging criteria on our FAQ page. This program has been referenced as a “Sketch Competition” in the past. We urge those interested to not sweat the sketch, as it is only a portion of the judging process.

The submission process runs from April 13 to May 14th. We’ve created a text option for those interested to pre-register for the competition. This will simply send them 4 text messages to remind them of submission deadlines. To be eligible, an entrant must be an Associate ASLA member or Full ASLA member who has earned a degree or advanced degree in landscape architecture during or after January 1, 2008.

We will be ramping up our promotion of this event over the coming weeks and hope you will share the posts to encourage participation within our chapter.
