On June 17, the U.S. Senate passed the Great American Outdoors Act with a 73-25 vote. This legislation, endorsed by ASLA, would fully and permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) ending the yearly legislative battles to provide programmatic funding. The measure also includes provisions to help the National Park Service and other federal land management agencies address maintenance backlogs. The legislation now goes to the U.S. House of Representatives for consideration. The president has promised to sign the bill into law should it reach his desk. You can help this bill become law by taking action through iAdvocate. If you haven’t done so already, write your Representative to encourage their support of the Great American Outdoors Act! ASLA has worked closely with the bill sponsors and coalition partners to ensure passage of this bill by the Senate and will continue to do so as it moves to the House.
