President of Land Concern and CLASS Fund Board Member, Rob Sawyer passed away Friday afternoon, January 13 after a long battle with cancer.  Rob was also an ASLA member since 1978.

Rob’s landscape construction industry exposure came early in life through his father’s business as a landscape contractor and retail nursery owner for over fifty years. Rob grew up working with his father and that was the beginning of what is now a long and successful career as a licensed landscape architect. He founded his own Landscape Architecture firm in 1974 with a desire to do what he loves and has been at it ever since.

A memorial service is being planned for February, and the Chapter will notify members and colleagues once the information becomes available. Rob is survived by his wife, Janet, his daughter Christy, son Greg and his grandchildren, Tyler and Nicole.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the California Landscape Architecture Student Scholarship Fund (CLASS Fund) and/or the Pancreatic Cancer Society in Rob Sawyer’s name.  Mail donations to: CLASS Fund; 360 E. 1st Street, #399, Tustin, CA 92780
